How Escape with Shar collects, uses and protects information provided through enquiries and the travel-planning service.

Escape with Shar is the controller for personal information collected through this website and during the travel-planning relationship. Privacy enquiries can be sent to sharon@escapewithshar.com.
Depending on what you choose to provide, this may include your name, email address, telephone number, travel dates, party details, budget, destination preferences, preferred airports, accommodation preferences and other information relevant to your requested Escape Plan.
You may also choose to provide practical accessibility, mobility or dietary requirements. Some of this information can be sensitive personal data. Please provide only what is needed for the travel research and do not send medical records or diagnoses.
Information is used to respond to enquiries, prepare or discuss a requested planning service, provide an agreed Escape Plan, keep appropriate business records and deal with questions or complaints. Depending on the stage of the relationship, the lawful basis will normally be taking steps at your request before entering a contract, performing a contract, complying with legal obligations, or legitimate interests in administering the business and responding to customers.
Where you choose to provide health-related, accessibility, mobility or dietary information that amounts to special-category data, Escape with Shar relies on your explicit consent to use that information for the limited purpose described on the enquiry form. You can withdraw that consent by contacting Escape with Shar, although this does not affect processing already carried out lawfully.
The enquiry form submits information to a Google Apps Script service. Enquiry details are stored in an “Escape with Shar Enquiries” Google Sheet and a notification is emailed to sharon@escapewithshar.com. Google services therefore process information on behalf of Escape with Shar under their applicable terms and safeguards.
The public website may be hosted by Cloudflare Pages, while email and enquiry storage may use Google services. These providers may process limited technical information needed to deliver, secure or operate their services.
Do not send passport numbers, payment-card details, banking passwords, complete medical records or other information that is not needed for travel research.
Escape with Shar may give you links or recommendations for airlines, accommodation, transport, excursions, restaurants or other providers. When you choose to contact or book with them, their own privacy notices apply. Escape with Shar does not send your form data to those providers as part of the planning service unless you specifically ask and an appropriate basis exists.
Enquiry and customer records are kept only for as long as reasonably needed for the enquiry, service, accounting, legal or complaint-handling purposes. Records are reviewed periodically and deleted or anonymised when they are no longer needed. If a specific statutory retention period applies to a business record, that period will be followed.
Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis, you may have rights to be informed, access your information, correct inaccurate information, request erasure or restriction, object to certain processing, request portability, and withdraw consent where consent is relied upon. To exercise a right, contact sharon@escapewithshar.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.

Hosting and security providers may use strictly necessary technologies to operate and protect the service. If non-essential analytics or marketing cookies are added later, the website and this notice should be updated and consent obtained where required.
